MARKETSIDE

packaging design

Marketside is Walmart's third-largest private-label brand in the company, and I had the opportunity to help design, art direct, and lead the redesign strategy set by JKR based in New York.

Marketside is in six basic food categories of the store: meat, seafood, produce, produce snacks, deli, and bakery. These categories are used to define the color strategy of the ticket and the border that houses the statement of identity. The new design is inspired by the characteristics of a traditional market, with the arched shape of the logo having a welcoming touch of personality. The packaging is product-focused, with beautiful photography and a vibrant color pallet that reflects the freshness of the product.

The opportunity to lead such a large-scale brand gave me the skill set to understand the process of developing a design strategy and the nuances you must consider for each category. I love the editorial style of the photography with the naturally imperfect food styling and the flexibility between different surfaces.
